Bride and Groom Portraits in Sedona | Heather + Dan

Let’s face it. Wedding days are busy, busy, busy! And sometimes that may result in not getting all the photos you were hoping for. This is why I really encourage my couples to consider separate bride and groom portrait sessions. Heather and Dan took me up on that offer and so we shot their bride and groom portraits Sedona at the incredibly beautiful Merry Go Round Rock!

We had so much fun during their session. Heather and Dan are huge outdoor lovers, and when we told them about our UTV they were adamant about taking it out to an epic location. I was so excited about it! We made it out to our location where we were surrounded by stunning rock formations and lush valleys of trees. The location could not have been better! I should have known from their adventurous spirit that they would be down for anything! They were standing on cliff-sides, walking through the dusty sand and just having a great time.

I love how Heather sported a beautiful tan wide-brimmed hat and her glasses. Her dress also was off the shoulder which allowed her to show off her amazing tattoos! They kept the floral simple, and Heather held a petite bouquet with some deep reds and earthy tones. Dan’s navy blue suit jacket paired nicely with his Sedona red tie and grey pants — he matched the tones of Merry Go Round Rock beautifully! It made for some stunning photos!

We had ventured far-out in our UTV so when we headed back and it started acting a little weird I got just a tad concerned. I couldn’t think of anything worse than having to hike back from our location! Never had we experienced any issue like this and we’ve done a LOT of sessions with our UTV. Luckily, Heather and Dan were good sports about it. Somehow a Sedona Jeep tour was driving by as we were trying to figure out what was going on with the UTV. I stopped them and asked if our bride and groom could hop on for a ride back so they wouldn’t be stranded out here and luckily, they agreed! (free Sedona Jeep tour for Heather and Dan, huge bonus!)

The jeep took off with Heather and Dan and just about ten minutes later we were back, up and running. We caught up to them and had them hop back into our UTV so we could finish their adventure and UTV ride! Also, yes we have now had the UTV serviced and it is good as new! Haha, no more stranded couples during sessions here!

Heather and Dan really exhibited how important it is to just roll with the punches sometimes. Elopements can be unexpected and when you allow yourselves to have some fun and invite in a little adventure you’ll be amazed by the memories you create! I’m sure Heather and Dan wouldn’t have been thrilled to be stranded out in Sedona with us and our UTV but they’ll be laughing about the jeep tour for years to come!
