Flagstaff Hiking Elopement | Marisa + Adam
My favorite part of my job is the intimate, special moments I get to share with my couples. Marisa and Adam became so special to me because we really got to bond over planning their adventurous special day. They didn’t want anything traditional and the result was magic!
Marisa and Adam are super outdoorsy, and wanted a Flagstaff hiking elopement because it perfectly represented them and their life together.
We originally planned for Marisa and Adam to elope on Mt Humphreys. They dreamed about exchanging I do’s at the top after an intense 10.4 mile hike. In preparation, we were all training for the big day and I even hiked to the top a couple months before to scout locations and make sure we didn’t run into any hiccups. Unfortunately, the week of their wedding, the mountain got a ton of snow forcing us to come up with a new plan.
we decided on a special spot in the woods up past Lockett Meadow in Flagstaff Arizona , and it was perfect!
We met early in the afternoon and hiked through the forest to their ceremony spot stopping along the way to enjoy the beautiful white aspen trees and mountain views. They got to exchange rings and vows without another soul around, surrounded by only aspens, woods and mountain views.
These two were all about embracing their plan B. Marisa actually had a mishap with her wedding dress a few days before the elopement. Thankfully I had some extra dresses from workshops and styled shoots on hand that I let her come try on, and she ended up wearing one of them. It looked perfect on her! It meant a lot to me that I was able to help alleviate a major stress! I really care so much about my couples and want to be there for them in whatever ways I can.
We hiked back in the pitch black to an intimate picnic complete with cake and champagne. I did my best to help them decorate, and we spent the evening cooking brats and s’mores and sitting around the fire talking about what a special day it was. These are the moments that I cherish so much.
