Intimate Backyard Elopement in Arizona | Ashley + Michael
Seeing couples successfully navigate Covid in their own way was one of the most rewarding parts of photographing in 2020. Ashley and Michael were one of my first “covid couples”. When their woodland wedding in Pinetop was cancelled, they opted for an intimate backyard elopement in Phoenix and chose to focus on what mattered most to them, including tying the knot on their original wedding date!
Ashley and Michael ended up having a small ceremony and dinner in their backyard that was absolutely gorgeous!
Combining vintage plates, romantic draping and golden light – the magic was in full effect for their big day! It was amazing seeing everyone come together to still make their day as special as could be. Witnessing friends and family rallying around their loved ones to make big days happen in the most challenging times really showcases what weddings, at their core, are all about: Love and family! 2020 gave us all a chance to focus on the basics of what we cherish and need most.
Their intimate backyard elopement was topped off with a drive through reception with friends and family driving by all decked out and cheering on the couple.
It was a whole new normal that we’ve all become accustomed to seeing these days, but it has it’s own heartfelt charm, if not even a little extra! It’s been so amazing seeing others go out of their way to celebrate in a time that put a lot of celebrations on hold. Ashley and Michael weren’t going to let that happen and the result was just as special and full of beauty as any non-pandemic wedding! A big cheers to these two for making it happen despite the hurdles!
